What I learned from Blogging.

What I learned...well, I am much more familiar with blogging and how to navigate through the site, which was pretty easy. I spent some time putting my thoughts to paper (or webpage) and found how simple and unique this kind of journaling can be. I am excited to get back to my classroom and utilize this kind of technology with my fifth graders. I hope they are excited as I am.

Video of the preamble

In case you did not remember the preamble...here is a helpful video to refresh your memory.

Classroom Expectations.

Classroom Expectations are always important to get out there right away. At Fairview we have 3 basic expectations that should govern all of our words and choices and I support them completely. Those three expectations are be safe, be responsible, and be respectful. I however have 3 other expectations that will mold and shape the students in my class into respectful, responsible fifth graders. Those three expectations are to work hard throughout the year to become organized, independent, and successful. I will work with the students where they are at when they come to me and help guide them into responsible independent workers. The first and most important part of any of these expectations is to spend time up front developing a relationship with my students. That will be the number one goal for the first 5-6 weeks. We will get to know about each other as people, and as students. We will discover learning styles and how we learn best in all situations.  I look forward to this part of our time together and this is where I think the blogging may be a part of this. It makes me anxious to start the year.

Showing the cow his mail on the farm.

Playing at the water table in the lowest level of the museum.

Oh My! What a big chair they have!

A little dress-up because "the show must go on"!

Playing around in the underground gopher tunnels.

DANCE PARTY! in the screen room!

There has to be face painting!

Suiting up for space travel!

How do you drive this rover?

Captain Lucy reporting for duty!

The plane she intends to fly-on the third floor of the museum.

What does this button do? Guess she should have paid more attention in flight training.

A relaxing game of GIANT chess after a scary flight.

My Introduction

Hello there world.
My name is Michelle Boyce and I am a Christian woman who is happily married and the proud mom of two teenage children. My son is a sophomore and my daughter is a freshman this fall. I am also an elementary teacher  at Fairview Elementary where I am lucky enough to teach fifth grade with two of my best friends. I have been teaching for 17 years and the last 12 of those have been for Bellevue. Before that I was in a rural school in a small town south of Bellevue called Murray. I taught K-3 Sped and then third grade. I graduated from University of Nebraska @ Kearney, and my masters degree from Lesley University in Integrating Arts into Curriculum and Instruction.

I would call myself an intermediate technology user. I know just enough to be dangerous and destructive. I love my rover cart in my classroom, which I need to better about sharing that! I tend to be a PC person, but have had some exposure to MAC, and can feel my way around that. I would like to become a bit more educated in technology, especially the latest technology, but I find that computers and such frustrate me. So I continue to try and be patient and try. So here I am.

I look forward to journaling...ooops, I mean blogging. Catch ya all on the next page.
Here is my first ever blog. I am a little nervous...like a new mother left alone with her first child for the first time. Yikes!
